COVID-19 Salon Protocols and Regulations
Thank you for being a loyal and supportive client of Salon Vie Rebelle. We are excited to announce that we re-opened on Wednesday, June 3rd!
We value your belief in us and want to be extremely clear that we are taking your safety and health, as well as that of our staff, with the utmost seriousness and care. As licensed salon professionals, it is not only our job, it is our commitment. The recent events of this crisis have changed the way each of us lives and that is no different here at the salon. There are many new safety and sanitation initiatives that we are implementing, but we are informing you of those most important prior to our re-opening. Please review this critical information and let us know if you have any questions. Your care and comfort mean the world to us!
**RECENT UPDATE: emergency travel order**
Effective Monday, July 6, travelers from the following states are directed to quarantine upon arrival in Chicago: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

SOCIAL DISTANCING – As Chicago and Illinois transition into Phase 4 Re-Opening, the 6-foot distance requirement for salons is no longer strictly required. Even so, we will continue to do our best to maintain sufficient distance between chairs and in the lobby area, and we ask that you also help us by following the markers indicated on the floor.
MASKS – Masks are mandatory, and all our staff will be required to wear them. We also require that every customer wears a mask to their appointment. Please wear a mask that secures behind your ears, not tied to your head. Disposable masks are also provided at each appointment for your convenience. Please keep in mind that your mask loops will get wet and will be stained with color, so feel free to swap for our disposable option if you would like.
SANITIZER – There is hand sanitizer at each styling station, as well as at the front desk and in the restroom. Please wash your hands once you enter the salon and after your service, prior to checking out.
HOURS AND SCHEDULES – We will be open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-7pm. We are answering phones to ensure everyone who is scheduled for the week is informed of our new protocols . We are also confirming your appointment is properly booked, given the frequent rescheduling that occurred these past few months during quarantine. You will also receive an email to review the new protocols for your salon experience.
APPOINTMENT TIMES – We ask that you arrive at the time of your scheduled appointment and not earlier. We will not have a waiting area available, so you will be asked to wait outside or in your car until we call or text you when your service provider is ready. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the summer weather and take a walk around the block, utilize the outdoor seating at local cafes, catch up on social media, or even just crank up some tunes! We will sanitize after each service with an EPA certified sanitizer to ensure thorough sanitation and disinfection of each stylist’s station, chair and tools. We ask that you please be mindful of time since we are limited with appointments. If you should arrive later than 15 minutes, we will ask you to reschedule or, alternatively, forgo the blowdry at the end of the service.
TOUCHLESS GREETINGS AND GOODBYES – Unfortunately, as much as this kills us, we will not be shaking hands, hugging or kissing at this time. This is one of the hardest protocols to implement for us! We will, however, be very excited to see you and engage in Socially Distant Greetings!
AT APPOINTMENT – Please call us at (312) 374-4969 to let us know you have arrived for your appointment; the door will be locked to ensure everyone's safety and to maintain population protocols. We will check your temperature with a digital thermometer once inside. We will also confirm that you have answered the COVID-19 questionnaire sent prior to your arrival and that your answers remain unchanged. If you have not yet filled out the required questionnaire provided in your confirmation email, you may complete it in the section below or click here. All forms must be submitted WITHIN 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. Thereafter, you will be handed a clean robe and plastic container in which to store your top or jacket, keys, and phone. Everyone who is receiving a haircut will also receive a freshly disinfected cape for the service. Please arrive in freshly laundered clothing. We will be keeping it cooler in the salon to accommodate the heat from wearing masks, so please bring a sweater as you may find it chilly.
NO BEVERAGES/FOOD/MAGAZINES – We are unable to offer beverages, pastries, or magazines until health and safety regulations allow. We understand this, too, will be a great struggle for many of us! If you would like to enjoy coffee during your appointment, you may bring your own.
LIMITED ITEMS AND GUESTS – Please keep all personal belongings to a minimum and on your lap. Do not bring any extra guests with you, including children, unless they have a service scheduled as well. We are operating by appointment-only and will not be accepting any walk-ins. Unfortunately, no pets will be allowed in the salon at this time unless they are service animals. Being dog lovers, this hurts us, too.
ADDITIONAL FEES – Please keep in mind that additional hair color may be needed for your base or highlight touch-up appointment. Consult with your colorist should you have any questions. We have also added a $5 fee which covers the cost of all PPE and sanitizing products that are additionally needed. This is now referred to as the CSS (COVID Sanitation + Supply) fee and will be reflected on your receipt.
PAYMENT & GRATUITIES – We have contactless payment methods available for checkout and strongly encourage utilizing this instead of cash. We recommend either storing your credit card on file with us prior to your appointment, using Apple Pay/Google Pay, or utilizing tap-and-go credit cards. We introduced gratuities-by-card when we upgraded our booking software in January and will continue to offer this convenience for the health and safety of our service providers and you. You may also purchase an electronic gift card ahead of time via the link provided on our Services page.
If you have an underlying health condition, we ask that you wait to return to the salon until you feel comfortable in a public setting. Although we will provide a clean, sanitized, and safe environment, nothing is guaranteed due to the risks involved. If you have been ill, had a fever, cough, or have been around someone who has been ill or quarantined, please wait at least two weeks to reschedule your appointment.
We will be contacting clients beginning Thursday, May 29th to reschedule any missed appointments from March 18th through June 2nd. If you previously scheduled an appointment for June 1st or after, please understand that rescheduling may be necessary due to the new capacity regulations and SVR service providers' adjusted schedules designed to comply. We will notify you as soon as possible and will do our best to accommodate the many changes that have occurred. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time as we work quickly and diligently to be both accommodating and conscientious to your needs.
